Day 2 in KL - Exploring the City
We love Kuala Lumpur! It has a feel of Manhattan but less crowded. Today was our main walking sightseeing day with a Chinese market for breakfast, lots of window shopping in malls, a visit to KLCC park and the Petronas Towers. We then got to experience some more 'tropical' weather with a 45 minute thunderstorm which we sheltered outside a corner shop from and ate some lunch (sushi and crisps). We visited Merdeka square (which celebrates Malaysia's independence) after seeing some unusual wildlife. We were also going to go to a night market, but with lots of walking today and jet-lag, we decided on a Michelin Guide Vietnamese restaurant instead!
Breakfast of Xiao Long Bao, dumpling soup and pork with noodles from a Chinese street food market (ICC Pudu)! It was all delicious and only cost 22RM (£3.70).
View of the Petronas towers from KLCC park
KLCC park which reminded us of Central Park. The 'rubber' trees' arial roots were very cool to see
On the bridge before Merdeka square, a local pointed out a snake in the river - it was about 3m long! Then we saw a large lizard crawling up the bank! We were not expecting to see this kind of wildlife in the city!
Sao Nam, 'Michelin Guide' Vietnamese restaurant - chicken nems (spring roll), beef pho, caramel chicken and rice (ate too fast to take a photo) and 2 drinks = 120 RM (~£20)
