Day 3 in Singapore - Joo Chiat, Raffles and Gardens by the Bay
We had a slow morning getting flights and SIMs sorted for the Philippines and were very thankful for cereal and peanut butter/jam toast from the hostel. We got a bus at around 2pm to Joo Chiat, a neighbourhood with lots of pastel coloured houses, cool bars and so many dogs (groomers, pet shops, pet photoshoots, pet food shops)! It was a lot less touristy but still had lots of both independent and high-street brands. It had a feel of an American suburb but obviously still an Asian city. We agreed that if we were to live anywhere in Singapore we had seen, we would live near Joo Chiat and if we had longer here, we would come back in the evening for some food.
We then got the bus back to Raffles for a Singapore Sling! After a few sips we quickly forgot the cost of the cocktail, we had one each and sat at the long bar amongst the sea of peanut shells at our feet. We ate a lot peanuts to make up for the price of the drinks and Dan ordered a larger which is specially brewed for Raffles. £70 lighter, we got the bus to Gardens by the Bay in time for the light show. This exceeded our expectations and nothing like we have ever seen before! We headed for food of Satay by the Bay and headed back to the hostel to watch the Carabao Cup final - up the red men!

Our lunch: McSpicy, curly fries and guava mcfizz with pineapple pie from McDonalds and a curry puff (curry cornish pasty) from Old Chang Kee

Joo Chait - lots of pastel coloured buildings and ornate carvings

You have to have a Singapore Sling when at Raffles! It was delicious and the peanuts went down a treat too. I'm not sure everyone eats quite as many as we did though! The green thing with the wheel is attached to cocktail shakers to make Singapore Slings - only for deoration now though as they are all by hand!

We took a wander around the grounds of the hotel which were beautiful!
Dan colour coordinating his outfit with the sign haha
The Gardens by the Bay light show was incredible! We lay down on a bench to watch at the base of one of the lit up trees!
Marina Bay Sands at night
Satay by the Bay (we ordered rice with cucumber too). 17SGD ~ £10
