Day 1 in Singapore - Travelling and First Impressions
Megabus could learn a thing or two from Aeroline! Such a comfortable way to travel between KL and Singapore! We got a grab from the airbnb to Corus hotel where we picked up the bus - reclining seats, movies, free drinks, blankets and even a free meal! The immigration was also super easy, one to stamp your passport and another to scan your passports and take your bags over the border (minus the chewing gum we quickly chucked in the bin). We then were dropped off at the bus depot and took the subway to the pod-hotel/hostel where we are staying for the next 4 nights. This is basic but super clean and includes breakfast - just what we need as prices are higher than we have been used to the past few days! We got some lunch and had a wander around the few streets surrounding the hostel, having a rest and then heading back out for some dinner.
Roughly £20 each for luxury in bus form! Only snag is we were a little late booking and so we weren't sat together. It did mean we both got a good sleep though which was very needed after some busy days in KL.
Late lunch after we checked in - rice, sweet and sour pork, braised belly pork, sambal prawns and pak choi (8.80SGD~£5). This was similar to a Chinese takeaway we would get at home.
First Impressions of Singapore - a lot more green than expected and some very interesting architecture. The cable cars also look very cool!
Where we ate for tea: Lau Pa Sat Hawker. There was 'Satay Street' which was about 10 stalls in a row just selling satay. The vendors tried to get you to come to their stall but we are pretty sure all were selling exactly the same! This hawker is also open 24/7!
Gyozas, satay prawns and prawn dumpling noodle soup! These were all incredible! You could tell the gyozas were handmade, the prawns were big and juicy and the dumplings in the soup had not been minced too much so had a very good texture! They had sold out of fried xiao long bao so must try these somewhere else.
